Hello Students who joined the free form art workshop!
Starting February 1, 2012 which falls next Wednesday.

We will be learning three things in this class:

Free form, Free Flow and free style

Free form: Is about forming your own ideas into lines and shapes. Making your art into your own unique style.
A signature defining your expression.
An art ownership defining who you are in your art.

Free flow: A free flow interaction of colors complimenting and welcoming each other creating beautiful personal imagery.

Free Style: Visually refining your doodles and scribbles coming to life.

Remember, this class is not about perfection, rules and all the other stuff that stops you from creating freely.

This class isn't about technique that will define your piece of art.
It will be about spontaneous fun, open, close and personal. It's unconventional. A path to your art discovery.

You will be given an assignment: Creating a 4page booklet from your 20 x 30 cold press sheet. Don't worry, there will be a tutorial on how to make the booklet easy and simple. More on this assignment on Sunday.

So please have your supplies ready on Wednesday Feb 1, 2012
For those who may be confused about which gesso to buy. Is white gesso and not clear gesso. More information about Video before class begins.

Class of free form is almost near!

Exciting! I'm excited, are you excited? I sure hope so!

I have so much to share and teach you.

In this class, there won't be any rules, just pure fun.

What I expect from you is, your supplies ready and to spontaneously explore and express yourself freely in this class. You will be surprise what you will be accomplishing by the end of the day.

Now here I have a set of art goodies I expect in my class.

For those who already have these supplies at home, dismiss the list.

But for others who may not have what's on the list, please have them!

- Pad Bienfang - watercolor paper 9 x 12

Price - $5.99 0r $8.00

but if you already have other watercolor paper, is fine but must be cold press 140lb

- Stonehedge cold press paper or Fabriano watercolor paper - two sheets 20 x 30 for booklet we will be creating.

Price - $3.98 or $4.00

- Watercolor Brushes - round Royal size 8 , Royal size 5 , Royal size 10

- Fixative is a plus! It keeps your work from smudging when you begin working with paint.

Price- $7.99

- Medium Gesso a must! Geso is great and it's my favorite medium for what I do and for what we will be doing in class.

Price - $5.00 or $7.00 in Walmart or Micheal's Art Craft store.

- Pencils - Graphite - koh-1- noor hardtmuth progresso 8911/6B and Charcoal conte pencil france 3B

- Watercolor paints - Germany Fine Tec is pretty pricey

Folk Art acrylic paints use like watercolor.

Choose any colors you want. Not expensive and the paints are great!

In this class - Art will not obey the usual rules for creating a piece.

Art will not conform to conventional rules of composition.

Art in this class will not be created according to a standard style on convention but your own unique style.

Finally I got my compose to work as I want it. My last two posts seem to all be in one big paragraph which makes your eyes and mine heavy and tired. Blogger keep changing some settings here but finally figured it all out.

My Workshop of Art Free Form

The art workshop will begin Wednesday February 1,2012 There will only be 10 students for the first workshop. Each student will need to register before the class begins. Registration starts Friday January 13,2012. The Class of Free Form Art is $45 Dollars per student. The free form art class will be given with video tutorial on the first week on Feb. First week - Free Form Art will consist of line work, Thick and thin with graphite or charcoal, whichever you prefer will do just fine, on regular drawing paper. Note, A video tutorial about Free Form art will guide you through the process. Free Form Art is line work allowing you to express freely. But not to worry, I will show you how Free Form works. It's free style on paper with no rules. Is about letting yourself go and having fun doing it. You will learn with Free Form the depth between thick and thin line work to which adds to the piece's boldness, contrast and depth. Lines express feelings, moods, emotion and ideas. Each student's line work will communicate different emotions. Not only will you learn techniques of working with graphite and charcoal pencils but you will also find your unique style during the process. Finding Your own style is very important in this class. It is your signature. The Artwork is about you. Your soul and passion is in it. You will find yourself in the page. On the days to come during that first week, prepare a cup of tea or coffee with some cookies and have fun creating your thick and thin line work of free form. Create a drawing and have fun on paper. Color makes all the difference in your line work. It creates substance and I mean your substance. Colors make me come to life and everyday I take my graphite pencil, I start getting buck wild on watercolor paper. Get watercolor paper cold press 140lb 11 x 14 pad or 20 x 30 Stonehenge sheets.This paper is great for mix media or You can also use drawing paper and gesso it. Continuing - Once I have the image. I then protect it with Fixative to keep the graphite or charcoal from smudging. So get your fixative ready. And If you don't have one, get one! You don't want big dark muddy smudges. And if you do, there is always the magic trick, gesso to the rescue,ha! Get your watercolors, your acrylics,your pastels, gesso and charcoal or graphite. Are you ready to have fun spilling smudging and being free with no restrictions what so ever. Every single person has something special to offer especially to themselves. Let's bring her out. I want you all to have fun. And if you find yourself stuck, take a breather and walk the dog or make some tea. Come back and start again or simply go back to it the next day. In the mean time take a step back and look at your piece for a bit. Don't attack it. Attacking it is the same as attacking yourself. Don't be hard on yourself just feel free to create and explore. You have questions, I will reply as quickly as I can to help you. Stuck, watch my free form video. Get the music ready, this helps to ease you a bit. Again I will join you in this colorful journey. Email me your drawings on Monday Feb 13th. Third week - Wednesday Feb 15th - Painters of words is all about Freestyle getting jazzy jazz with your piece. Make your art into a painting of words. Write the first thing that you feel. Every art piece has a story and it needs to be loud and clear so you may embrace it with love. In this week I will show you how to make a piece of art coming to life all on it's own. You'll begin to feel free without worry or self doubt. You will see things in different forms and shapes. Painting is not only learning a new technique. Is about getting your true feelings out. Is about challenges and channeling your perspective honestly to the core. Is a therapeutic experience. If you're angry, welcome it and enlighten it with colorful words of wisdom. That goes for all the emotions you feel. Paste it, write it and paint it! Frida is one of my favorite artists due to her deep emotions nakedly spilled on canvas. And she wasn't afraid to let the world know including herself. We all can relate to her. The power she delivered in all her paintings were real and true till this day we are constantly reminded and inspired. Inspiring right? Is wonderful to learn a technique but if the piece lacks substance, is empty regardless how beautiful the technique is. Fourth week - Wednesday Feb 22 - Getting it all together. So here we are at the end of our workshop sharing and exploring who we are and knowing that we are much more. Creating brings out the best in us. We are happier to expose who we are regardless of approval. I want you all to create a piece that defines the meaning of self love and empowerment in a free form way. And remember, don't forget to have fun. I will join you this fourth week with a video tutorial. Fifth week - Send your paintings to my email. What a year! First and foremost I want to thank you all for your friendship and support!

You guys have been so wonderful and loving.

This year has knocked me down quite a bit but I'm here strong adding magic to my art that keeps me going with so much love. I have learned so much about myself . Spiritually I'm growing and learning. And I thank my my supportive Loving hubby, friends and family. I am so thankful for all my blessings!

It's been a while since I posted. You know the feeling when you have moments when things just don't work .

Well I been dealing with moments when every single thing in the house seem not to work, pretty weird buy hey it happens. How are you guys doing? Having fun preparing for the Holidays cause is moving pretty darn fast. I can't believe how fast is going. Here at this time is party party party lasting till the end of January. I decided this year to decor my balcony with clear lights. And it's real pretty! Makes me happy just to sit out there and look at my lovely lights including my street. And there's a sweet breeze coming in through window from the ocean which I visit quite often. I'm feeling strong healthy with no anxiety. I feel blessed and I thank the man upstairs who hugs me. I thank you all for your support. You guys are truly wonderful and incredibly inspiring and lovely. And from here I send many warm sunshine hugs and big kisses. And I want to thank you all for all your kind words and wisdom. May this new year 2012 bring you lots of joy, health happiness, laughter, many smiles, prosperity and abundance.

It was a lovely weekend. Mom came to visit and I created new two paintings.

I been wanting to paint large, I mean huge. It's a bit different when you paint in a large scale. I get intimidated but been dying to explode my heart on a large wood panel but not quite yet. Im not into canvas. Something about the texture that doesn't allow me to spill the paint the way I want to. But wood yesssss! Love the smell of wood and the texture is great, well depends on the kind of wood.

Hello Everyone! As you can see I been so busy. So excited to receive a box full of travel mugs. I created 5 and there is more where they came from. Now in New York City everybody drinks coffee and tons of it. One thing that I don't like is having coffee spill all over me. It's also nice to make roasted coffee at home and take with you. It also saves you money. These beautiful Travel mugs make great gifts. Now my printer is not being friendly with me and it's new. I miss it and soon I will get it back. Im selling the originals in your coffee travel mugs. Hot yummy roasted coffee on the go especially on a cold day or you can even have hot tea.

On the 14th of October I was released from the hospital called conquering mental health for deep depression and OCD. I was there for 6 days. I have to say it was scary. I never been in a mental hospital before. And being isolated by the people I love was very difficult. I cried for 4hours. But I knew I had to do it. I was prepared meaning I had a bag full of art supplies and paper. I always carried my supplies with me so that was good. Facing what hurts you the most was very painful. I could no longer avoid like I had in the past. I was good at avoiding my problems. But this time I promised myself that I will face it even if it hurts too much. I won’t be alone. I was prepared to fight. I know that this is personal and I know I am sharing it with all of you because being openly naked is freedom and letting go. And I’m not ashamed of it. I’m only human, a woman with so much love deep inside myself.
The second day was a bit easier for me. I introduced myself to other 20 patients young and old. And they were all wonderful and gifted. It gave me the opportunity to teach art therapy, that was fun. We all talked about our deepest feelings and fears. We cried, we laughed, we got angry, we screamed, we hugged, we talked, we embraced and we respected each other. The nurses and doctors treated us like human beings with kindness. At first I was ashamed of being there thinking how can I possibly be so weak. But I was wrong. I was brave to seek help. I couldn’t do it alone, not this time.

I had suffered from depression ever since I was a little girl. Drawing was an escape to venture through a lightness of being, to explore and channel my feelings. Some feelings I could not understand and so I painted and painted. Releasing felt powerful, to be able to connect and explore a part of me. I knew I had to face something but what, I asked myself. I was too young to comprehend, confused about my surroundings, sensitive, impressionable about the city I grew up in and my home. Being Puerto Rican living in New York City was tough. It taught me that to survive you got to keep going and not give up. There were moments when I did fall and hard but I found the strength to build myself up and keep going. Painting was my survival! It brought me joy, happiness and colors to explode on paper. That was my gift to just paint and share my deep love to the world. As you all know that a lot of paintings are based on children. Deep inside I’m still that little girl in this 40 year old body of mine. I have a young spirit. We artists are all brilliant, incredibly strong and brave. And we should never be afraid to be who we truly are – SPECIAL! And that goes for every single person in here. There light in all of us! Never listen to that part of yourself that says you are not special because you all are.

I have to say with what's been going on in the world. It's pretty freaking sad. The selfishness, the unkindness, rudeness, the violence , the domestic violence, the drugs, the ignorance, shallowness, the materialism, lies and more lies, politics. All the bullshit. Here are many wonderful new paintings for you that I have done in the past week to keep me stimulated while I was in the hospital with George my husband. It's been a difficult scary tough time in the past two months, Especially this month. George is finally home! Thank god!!!! I thought I was going to loose him. One morning three weeks ago at about 630am - Is Usually the time he goes out to go for a swim with our dog Brook. Well on that morning as he was talking to me he fainted and hit his head on the table. I thought he was having a heart attack. Suddenly I as try to get him up he asked what happened. I call 911 for the ambulance but they took too long. He fainted again in the bed with his mouth open and eyes rolled back. I cried. Luckily our friend came over and took us to thee hospital Pavia. My anxiety was up the roof. What caused his faint spells was his pulse as 36 Second degree block arythmia due to Lyme disease that caught his heart. He was left in the hospital for 16 days. Now he is home working taking Doxicycling don't kno how to spell that.

And well me I'm doing the best that I can to take care of my depression and anxiety. My friends here and back in CT and you guys have all been supportive and it tickles my heart with love. Thank you!

I will continue to blossom grow love smile paint believe have faith hold on and not give up!

I found myself falling fast and I closed my eyes and said, I'm not afraid, i'm not afraid. And I flew and flew as high as I could and I felt safe. The dream ended when I saw myself flying with a smile in my face, the end!

I had to make a decision a few weeks ago about a friend who I care about. It was very hard for me to let her go. Friendship to me is very important and sometimes we forget how important real friends are, that unfortunately, we take them for granted. Sometimes we can be blinded by our own insecurities, even jeolousy about someones else ruining the bond between you because you are unhappy. If only she knew that I too suffer from things just like everybody else. That my life isn't perfect. Even if it seems like it is. But I say this I try to better myself everyday with love, understanding and believing in myself and sharing that goodness in my art to the world. If only she knew how beautiful I see her!

It's Thursday morning 10:30am sitting at a coffee shop in Ocean Park PR writing. Here I am living in Puerto Rico with my sweet heart George, Brook my dog and Sammy the cat.

I love this photo! Yesterday night I was looking through these old photos on Flickr and saw this one. The photo reminds me when I was once a young girl visiting my grandmother in Guayama PR. The beauty, the simplicity, the humbleness and innocence. Taking a memory stroll of the past gave me comfort. I wanted to feel, to remember the essence and beauty of my island and not think about the chaos that Puerto Rico is under at the moment due to being unemployed, drugs and domestic Violence. Yes it is a reality and I wish people could handle this crisis a different way instead towards each other. And I would love to do something about it but what? Is the question. What can I do? And I realize while I'm going through some major anxiety myself due to life changes and not smoking for a month and two weeks. The only thing I can do is focus and channel my feelings with painting and deliver positive messages through my paintings and share it with the world. The only way to deal is to move forward, to keep going, to create. That even though the world outside seems to be falling apart and that also means everywhere, we all must keep going, believe and have the faith. And do what we love to make a difference.

Yesterday I went to the beach after finishing a set of bracelets and had a virgin pina colada and sat getting ready to write down my thoughts. The man who prepared the drink and spoke great English started talking about the negativity of Puerto Rico due to the economy, the government, theft and so on. And how foreigners are moving invading the island. He went on and on and on. And knowing that I recovering slowly from panic and anxiety, the last thing I want to hear is negativity. My heart started beating fast and doubt came in thinking , did we made a mistake coming here. I could not stop thinking. I wanted to run and I finally left. I went home and took breathing exercises. I never been so scared like this before and I ask myself why now! I was always aware about the dangers but to feel this dramatically frighten felt strange unrealistic. I bought a book on how to calm yourself when suffering from a panic and anxiety attack. Meditating breathing creating walking on the beach with my dog, talking to my hubby , connecting with friend and family helps a great deal!!!! Anxiety is a horrible feeling. Well hope I did not bore you guys! I will open my store Saturday afternoon!

You have no idea how many slips I had. But now I can honestly say to myself I'm done. I hate having something control me. I am in control and it feels great! The worst thing you can do to your body. Now I need to apologize if I have not come to visit your blogs. But I will once I settle down and feel totally home. I may not post any painting. I have so much to do I am overwhelmed. Moving to Puerto Rico!

Now I finished a commission piece 22 x 30 arches cold press 140lb in acrylic and charcoal and sealed with fixative.

I have news! I will no longer live in Connecticut. We are moving to Puerto Rico this June. I'm overwhelmed excited and anxious.

Having an art and tag sale right here at my place Starting Friday till Saturday evening 6pm. You are all welcome to come and have fun. There will be food wine and music. I know that a lot of you will not be present but wish to see you lovely artists here.

Hope you are having a beautiful sunny day. I'm creating in the porch with the sun beaming on my face, it feels great!!!!

Now while sitting in my porch, I created 4 beautiful wood spoon pendants. But first I want to thank Sue from United Kingdom for purchasing the comfort of silence necklace that was also created in a wood spoon.
These wood spoons are medium size - cut, sanded, three layer of gesso, decorative handmade paper glued in mod podge, faces are done carefully in graphite pencil, cheeks in acrylic paint and sprayed with fixative and later seal in 3d crystal lacquer and finally into a beautiful necklace. now these are not ready but will be soon.

The face is done in graphite pencil, sprayed in fixative and later sealed with 3d crystal Lacquer. The necklace in is done brown thin hemp cord crochet featuring glass beads, silver beads, few beach stones. The necklace falls nicely below the chest.

There is something about freestyle and the imperfection about these that I love. I just go with it without planning. Following my imagination as I gather all my fabrics together and simply design them as I go along. The imperfection of eyes misplaced are just beautiful to me.

Design and color play a major part in what I do. I trust the process as I go along creatively. Sometimes I make mistakes but the result of those mistakes are beautiful and worth working with. My art at times can be personal, political, emotional, playful and times defensive. It really depends on my mood. I'm an emotional person and happy I can bring that out in many ways when it comes to art. For me art is my therapy. It has helped me in ways that I can say I'm grateful to have a gift that allows me to express. I wear my feelings and paint them, it's who I am. I'm comfortable being in my skin.

Blending with Spring

10 x 14. I love arches but so freakin expensive ey! I treated myself yesterday and I just love love the paper. I use Vincent Rossini handmade which I'm in love with but love to always try other papers. I want to make my own, that will be my next adventure project.

This piece I used acrylic like watercolor and I love the way it seeps and spreads in the paper making it's own forms and shapes. I try not to over analyse what I doing. I just have fun!

I made these, two nights ago. A fun fun inspirational late night till 5am in the morning. I was beat but very happy to go to bed knowing that creating these was worth staying up late a weed hours of night watching Roswell.

I been staying up late till 2am and 5am while everyone is asleep. I love staying up creating. I enjoying working at night. It's pretty distracting during the day my studio is my living room, that means I have no privacy. People knock on the door, the phone is ringing. George stomps around and in and out the door and I'm left feeling. Jesus, can a woman get some peace and quiet around here, without someone knocking on the door or the phone ringing. So I stay up and take advantage of the time while everyone else is sleeping. George doesn't quite like it. He loves to cuddle. I do too but when my creative juices are flowing, nothing can stop me. But I think tonight I might just go to bed early!!!!
